Arts & Health
Creative Futures’ programmes increasingly intersect with healthcare in the field of mental health and wellbeing, and through the growing research area of “musical care”. Mental wellbeing outcomes have always permeated our programmes, and since 2022 we have made this the primary outcome area for many projects, particularly those supporting maternal mental health. The health and wellbeing of our artist practitioners is also always at the forefront of our project management: an ethos of self care is embedded across the organisation.
Creative Futures is proud to be an integral part of two innovative research networks in this area:
Music and Parental Wellbeing Research Network: https://www.rcm.ac.uk/research/projects/musicparentalwellbeing/
This network is the first of its kind to foster novel, international, and interdisciplinary collaborations to explore the role of music in supporting parental wellbeing.
Music Care International Network: https://musicalcareresearch.com/
This network of practitioners and researchers working on musical care throughout the life course emphasises international and interdisciplinary collaboration.
